That moment you know you are standing where you shouldn't be
shooting where you shouldn't be
breathing where you shouldn't be -
on the razor's edge of property lines
on the backbone of someone's household
on something that wasn't meant to be seen.
It's okay
to stumble into those moments
and in fact the more that you do
the more you will grow
because that's just part of being a photographer
but what matters most
is what you do next -
do you shoot and run,
do you shoot and chat,
do you shoot and develop a relationship?
I'm still in the process
of learning how to shoot on thin ice
but I know it will be those moments
that define me as a person,
property owner,
photographer,
and urbanite.
